Boro Bean #5 30.6 (elev. gain, 57'/mi.)
We will start at my house in Ringoes, climb over the Sourlands mountain and into Hopewell for a stop at the Boro Bean. After a snack and a drink, we continue through the borough to Hollow Rd. (a more gradual climb) and head back over the mountain to historic Ringoes. If the weather cooperates plan to stay for a beer or two under the spreading maple tree. If you want, bring a beer snack to share.
Start time is 10:00

Cold Weather Riding Gear
Merino Wool makes a good base/mid layer, it doesn't hold body odor and can be washed. On your feet try Merino Wool hiking socks, or double up socks. Any kind of tights over your bike shorts work well. A skull cap and a neck gaiter should be part of your kit, these can be thin. Next, wear full fingered bike/ski gloves with glove liners on colder days. On your body, start with your Merino Wool base layer, then your long sleeved bike jersey followed by a light weight windbreaker that can fit in your jersey pocket when you get too warm. Add or subtract clothing depending on the temps and your own body's tolerance for the cold. You want to be a little cool at the start of the ride, but you will warm up at the first hill.
The holidays are coming, all this stuff makes great presents.
Helmets are Mandatory. High Viz clothing, front/rear flashers as well as mirrors highly recommended.
