Ride description:
Come out and ride and clear the cobwebs from your late-night partying on New Years Eve for the Annual WJW New Years Day ride.
This will be a low-pace, off-road ride on the D & R Canal towpath. We'll start start near Lambertville at the parking area near the Holcombe Jimison farmstead, ride up to Bulls Island, walk our bikes across to Lumberville, and stop at the Lumberville General Store for hot drinks and hang out around the fire pits. There are 2 options to return. The first would be to retrace the route down the NJ side, the other would be to take the canal towpath on the PA side down to New Hope and cross over the bridge to Lambertville.
Off-road bikes only. Knobby tires are optimal, but you will get by with a hybrid. No narrow tires. The long-range forecast shows that temps will be below freezing, but mostly sunny. So the good news is that it shouldn't be too muddy. The bad news is that it will be pretty cool, so dress appropriately. There's no chance of getting lost, so cyclists can ride at their own pace, but since this is a social ride, the plan will be to stay together as much as possible.
This ride is 'weather permitting', so be sure to check for a late cancellation.
Helmets Mandatory
