Half Century from Kingwood Park (Ice Cream Ride)
The first loop is 26 miles and riders wanting a shorter ride can finish their day at 26 miles with a picnic lunch.
The ride starts at the picnic pavilion at Kingwood Park on Union Rd., Kingwood. The entire ride is on the plateau so there are no killer hills, and most of the roads are rural with little car traffic. The first 26 mile loop brings us back to our cars in the park where we will take a longer break so we can replenish our biking supplies and enjoy our packed lunch under the pavilion. The second 25 mile loop will take us past Gabby’s Cafe at about mile 49 where we will stop and enjoy an ice cream cone as our well deserved reward for a day of cycling. A generous small cone is about $5.
This half century is a good training ride for the September 14, 77 mile (¾ century), birthday ride. Mark your calendars as this birthday celebration is the high point of the summer social season.
Be ready to roll at the 9 AM start time.
