UPDATED RIDE START LOCATION at the CVS in Lambertville!!!
With all of the rain we've gotten recently, I think the PA side of the towpath will be very wet and muddy. So instead, we'll start the ride at the CVS in Lambertville, navigate south to access the NJ towpath, ride north to Bull's Island, cross over to PA, go to the Lumberville General Store for warm drinks, and then return to Lambertville on the NJ side.
Ride description:
Come out and ride and clear the cobwebs from your late-night partying on New Years Eve for the Annual WJW New Years Day ride.
This will be a low-pace, off-road ride on the D & R Canal on the Jersey side. We'll start start in Lambertville and ride up to Lumberville, stop at the Lumberville General Store for hot drinks and hang out around the fire pits, then walk our bikes across the bridge to Bulls Island, and return to the start.
Off-road bikes only. The NJ side drains pretty well, but it will still probably be pretty wet. Knobby tires are optimal, but you can probably get by with a hybrid. No narrow tires. There's no chance of getting lost, so cyclists can ride at their own pace, but since this is a social ride, the plan will be to stay together as much as possible.
The ride begins and ends at the CVS parking lot in Lambertville. This ride is 'weather permitting', so be sure to check for a late cancellation.
