We'll meet at Hansell Park, Bucks County, PA (see easy driving directions below). The first part of the route will consist of quiet, low-traffic, Bucks-plateau roads passing through Wismer and Hinkletown. A nice long stretch on quiet Applebutter Road will take us to Griers Corner and the stairway down to the Peace Valley Reservation. Great views will accompany us as we ride the shorelines of Lake Galena and the Pine Run reservoir. At New Britain we start to sample several of Doylestown's multi-use trails, starting with those bordering Nashaminy Creek. After a brief rest stop in Central Park, we will enter Doylestown and pass several of the best known sites. We'll avoid major commuter routes while we exit the town and proceed back to Hansell Park.
All ride surfaces are paved. Rest rooms will be available at Hansell Park and on the route. Riders wishing to ride faster than the "C" peloton may do so. Given the number of turns and paths, it is suggested that this be done with an electronic device capable of monitoring the route while remaining aware of the location of the ride leader.
There will be one commercial water stop. Riders will need to wear a mask to enter.
Please bring: Helmet (required), filled water bottles, equipment and skills needed to change a flat, and interest in having some fun in the Commonwealth.
Directions to Hansell Park:
From the Flemington circle or wherever you are in NJ, take US202S to the big bridge over the Delaware River. Zero your odometer at the toll booth and continue into PA on US202S. After about 6.9 miles from the toll booth, follow the sign and bear Right to stay on US202S (PA263 continues straight here. Don't do that. There is no light at this fork). About 0.2 miles later on US202S (mile 7.1 from the tollbooth), you'll come to a light. Turn Right at the light and proceed North on PA 413N, Durham Road. After another 2.2 miles (mile 9.3 from the toll booth), look for a painted left turn lane on PA 413 (no light; green street sign present on left corner). and turn Left onto Hansell Road. After 0.2 miles, turn left into Hansell Park (sign at entrance). Call me if you need assistance (909) 399-9016. Best regards, Dan Brown
