B 49 T2 Bucks Plateau, Lake Galena, & D'town

  • 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Hansell Park, Doylestown, PA

Registration is closed

Riders will park and sign in at Hansell Park, Bucks County, PA (easy driving directions below).  The route will consist of predominantly low-traffic country roads that will enable us to cruise comfortably and enjoy the rural county scenery.  The first part of the ride will take us through or near the communities of Wismer, Hinkletown, Irish Meeting House, and Kulps Corner while crossing Gaddes Run, and Deep Run.  More quiet roads will take us to Peace Valley and a shoreline tour of Lake Galena (Peace Valley Reservoir).  We continue on to Pine Run Park to ride through the woods and exit along the adjacent reservoir.  At New Britain we proceed onto a series of paved multiuse paths that take us through several scenic areas bordering Nashaminy Creek, including a short segment of the Doylestown Bike Trail.  These include routes through Central Park (three story playhouse and Sensory Trail) and the campus of Delaware Valley University.  We then enter Doylestown, take in some sites, and cruise back to Hansell Park.

Given the number of turns and the relatively modest amount of elevation gain, expect the peloton to be relatively consolidated.  All ride surfaces are paved.  Two commercial water stops are planned to support proper rider hydration.  A lot of variety on this ride.  There is a high probability that you will experience at least one road that you have never ridden a bike on before.

Please bring:  Helmet (required), filled water bottles, equipment and skills needed to change a flat, and an interest in having some fun in the Commonwealth.

Directions to Hansell Park:

From the Flemington Circle or wherever you are in NJ, take US202S to the big bridge over the Delaware River.  Zero your odometer at the toll booth and continue into PA on US202S.  After about 6.9 miles from the toll booth, follow signs and bear Right to stay on US202S (PA263 continues straight here. Don’t do that. There is no light at this fork).   About 0.2 miles later on US 202S (mile 7.1 from the tollbooth), you’ll come to a light.  Turn Right at the light and proceed North on PA413N, Durham Road.  After another 2.2 miles (mile 9.3 from the tollbooth), look for a painted left turn lane on PA413 (no light; green street sign present on left) and turn Left onto Hansell Road.  After 0.2 miles, turn Left into Hansell Park (sign at entrance).  Call me if you need assistance (908) 399-9016.

Best regards,

Dan Brown
